Community Forum Addresses Budget, OCR Programs

Commissioner Jess Santamaria held his monthly community forum at the original Wellington Mall on September 16. Discussion centered on taxes and the FY-2010 county budget, along with a presentation by officials from the Office of Community Revitalization (OCR).

County Administrator Robert Weisman spent about 90 minutes explaining and answering questions about the $1 billion operating budget tentatively adopted by the Board of County Commissioners. Residents were encouraged to attend the second and final budget public hearing on September 21. Also attending were Assistant County Administrator Brad Merriman, Financial Management and Budget Director Liz Bloeser and Budget Director Joe Doucette.

Houston Tate, director of the Office of Community Revitalization, and Principal Planner Ruth Moguillansky-De Rose gave an informative and entertaining PowerPoint presentation on the programs and services offered by their office.
