Commissioner Kanjian Proclaims October 6th as German-American Day
October 7, 2008 On Sunday, Commissioner Bob Kanjian joined some 400 members of the County’s American-German Club to celebrate October 6th as German-American Day. The festivities of the day included a traditional German dinner with jaegerschnitzel (breaded veal cutlet with gravy, mushrooms and onions), rotkohl (red cabbage), gebratene kartoffeln (potatoes) and dessert. The dinner was followed by the presentation of colors and the national anthems of the United States and Germany and then the Club’s choral group entertained the diners with a medley of German songs, including the popular Edelweiss from “The Sound of Music.”
