Commissioner Santamaria Hosts Open Forum

It was an open forum at the original Wellington Mall on October 21, as Commissioner Jess Santamaria invited residents to speak on any topic they wished.

Subjects included formation of a new inspector general’s office and an ethics commission, land-use planning, water resources, the status of the Acreage cancer study, the proposed western county landfill, housing foreclosures, the need for more recreation facilities, and proposed approval changes for houses of worship.

In addition, state Rep. Mark Pafford (District 88) gave an update on committee work in Tallahassee regarding off-shore drilling. About 50 west-area residents attended the gathering
