- Despite the widespread economic decline, residents are still optimistic about creating safe and sustainable neighborhoods. On November 17, 2009 the Board of County Commissioners approved the allocation of $100,200 to implement nine projects in various neighborhoods in unincorporated Palm Beach County. The grants are as follows:
- Paint Your Heart Out, Inc. - Awarded $10,000 to purchase painting and home improvement supplies.
- Ilene Long - Awarded $400 to purchase folding tables for community events in the Old Trail area.
- Claudia Williams - Awarded $4,400 to purchase supplies to update the inside and outside of the Schall Landing community center for community activities.
- Country Club Acres HOA, Inc. - Awarded $11,400 to purchase and install landscaping and an irrigation system in the median.
- Kim Erickson - Awarded $13,000 to purchase electronics and other media equipment and supplies for community activities in Canal Point.
- San Castle Community Leadership Organization, Inc. - Awarded $13,300 to purchase and install two neighborhood identification signs.
- Youth Empowerment, Inc. - Awarded $9,700 to purchase computers and printers for the Westgate Community Center.
- Palm Beach County Housing Authority, Inc. - Awarded $20,000 to purchase and install playground equipment in Dyson Circle.
- Habitat for Humanity of Palm Beach County, Inc. - Awarded $18,000 to install perimeter fencing around Westgate Village.
The recipients will have until November 17, 2010 to complete the projects. Notice of available funding for the 2010-2011 Neighborhood Partnership Grant cycle will be advertised in February of 2010.
