Reservations are required for ALL programs (unless otherwise noted). Please call if you are not able to attend the program to allow those on the waiting list to attend. If you are more than five minutes late to a program you have made a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the waiting list.
Participants/guardians are required to sign a Program Participation Form upon arrival to the program. Program fees are due upon arrival to the program.

- Owl Naming Contest - Owl Meet and Greet

Daggerwing Nature Center’s newest educational animal, an Eastern Screech Owl, needs a name and we want YOUR suggestion! Visit the nature center on Fridays, May 4, 18, or June 1 at 4:00 pm for a fifteen-minute meet and greet session with the owl to help you come up with the perfect name! You can submit a name during regular operating hours between April 14 and June 1 for a chance to win a one-on-one Owl Encounter, an original owl painting by local artist Paul Cummings, and the honor of naming the owl! The winning name will be announced the first week in June.

Parents, bring your little ones to experience exciting nature topics! Programs may include activities such as: stories, puppets, games, role play, nature walks, and crafts.

In this class, take a look at how vastly different birds are and how we can determine where they live and what they eat just by looking at their bodies adaptations. Meet our resident owl, and do an activity where you can “create your own bird species”.

Test your sight skills as we play a game to find the camouflaged animals, and meet a few of our educational animals that show different types of camouflage.

Would you like to learn how to handle snakes? Here’s your opportunity! Come learn about the life of snakes, and get the opportunity to hold one of our live snakes.
ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS
Families and all ages, $3 per person – Reservations Required
Bring the whole family and join us as we take an up-close and personal look at some of our LIVE educational animals. Programs include live animals, artifacts and pictures all to learn about the animal’s natural history and how we can help their wild relatives!

Saturday, May 26, 1:00-1:45pm
Come meet (and touch) our 7-month-old baby alligator! Learn how these prehistoric creatures have survived for so long. After the program, stick around for the 3:15pm feeding, and watch his instincts in action!
ALLIGATOR FEEDINGS
Families and all ages, FREE - No reservations needed
Gather 'round the alligator tank in the exhibit hall and listen to a short talk about our baby gator while he is being fed. Feel free to ask questions!
