Daggerwing Doings

 

Reservations are required for ALL programs (unless otherwise noted). Please call if you are not able to attend the program to allow those on the waiting list to attend. If you are more than five minutes late to a program you have made a reservation for, your spot will be given to a person on the waiting list.

Participants/guardians are required to sign a Program Participation Form upon arrival to the program. Program fees are due upon arrival to the program.


CHILDREN’S NATURE SERIES

Ages 3-6, $4 per participant – Reservations Required

Parents, bring your little ones to experience exciting nature topics! Programs may include activities such as: stories, puppets, games, role play, nature walks, and crafts.

ECO EXPLORERS

Ages 7-11, $4 per child  -  Reservations Required

Due to popular demand, we will be running a “pilot” ECO EXPLORERS program for 7-11 year olds! During these one-hour programs, participants will be able to do experiments and other explorations of the natural world around them, based on the topic of the program. The program is $4 per participant and will be offered on weekdays when the Palm Beach County School Districts have half days or days off.  There is a max of 15 students and these classes will fill up fast, so call and make your reservations today! If the program is successful, watch for it to be added to our regular program schedule!
  • OWLS
    Wednesday, November 25 at 2:30 pm
    Join a naturalist as we learn about owls! Learn what these amazing birds eat, how they hunt, where they live and sleep, and much more. Come and dissect an owl pellet and take a boardwalk tour to see where they live in our swamp!

  • ANIMAL TRACKS
    Tuesday, December 22 at 2:30 pm
    Who’s been in my backyard? Come and learn about animal tracks and identify some tracks from the local wildlife. We’ll take a walk on our boardwalk to look for tracks in our swamp and you’ll be able to make your own animal track mold to take home!


ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS

Families and all ages, $3 per person – Reservations Required

Bring the whole family and join us as we take an up-close and personal look at some of our LIVE educational animals. Programs include live animals, artifacts and pictures all to learn about the animal’s natural history and how we can help their wild relatives!

"HOW TO" PROGRAMS

Ages 9 and up, $3 per person - Reservations Required

Take part in a series where you can DO something with what you learn!  Learn how to ID birds, and attract butterflies to your yard!

  • BIRD IDENTIFICATION
    Saturday, November 14 at 2:00 pm (bring binoculars)


NIGHT HIKES

Families and all ages, $3 per person – Reservations Required

What comes out at night? Join us for a walk through our wetlands and see some special adaptations of nocturnal animals. (Bring bug spray and a flashlight.)

  • Friday, December 18 at 5:30 pm

STORY TIME

Ages 2-5, $2 per child – No reservations needed

Join us as we go on adventures through stories, both fiction and non-fiction, about animals and nature!

ALLIGATOR FEEDINGS

Families and all ages, FREE - No reservations needed

Gather round the alligator tank in the exhibit hall and get a short talk about our baby gator while he is being fed. Feel free to ask questions!

  • Every Wednesday and Saturday 3:00-3:15 pm

BOARDWALK TOURS

Families and all ages, FREE - No reservations needed

Join a docent for a guided tour of our swamp habitat!

  • Saturdays at 9:15 am: November 7 and 21, and December 5
  • Sundays at 9:15 am: November 15, December 6, and December 20

ORIGAMI

Ages 7 and older, FREE – No reservations needed

Join volunteers Jerry and Marilyn Lambert as they teach the ancient art of paper-folding.

  • Every Friday at 3:00 pm
  • Saturdays at 10:30 am: November 21, and December 19
