SEPTEMBER

  • Dip-netting Daze
    Saturday, September 5, 10:00 am            

    Ages 7 and older*, $3 per person, Reservations Required
    Explore the shore of our pond with net in hand to capture small fish, shrimp and other aquatic insects. We’ll examine our catch with hand lenses and microscopes, and learn about their aquatic adaptations. Please wear closed toed shoes that can get wet.

    *All children must be accompanied by an adult.

    All Ages, $3 per person, Reservations Required
    Prepare to be amazed as we introduce you to our resident birds of prey. See these birds up close and develop an appreciation for their role in the environment.

    Slither on over for an exciting program featuring our own scaly crew. See, touch, and test your knowledge of these limbless reptiles. Identification of Florida’s venomous species will be covered, so don’t miss it!

  • Touch Tank
    Saturday, October 3, 1:00 pm

    Ages 5 and older, $3 per person, Reservations Required
    Ever wonder what starfish, horseshoe crabs, urchins, and other “creepy crawlies” feel like? Explore the nature center’s touch tank and learn about these amazing underwater creatures!

  • Tortoise Trek
    Saturday, October 10, 1:00 pm
    Ages 5 and older, $3 per person, Reservations Required
    Learn something new about one of our native reptilian friends while you take a short walk with a naturalist and investigate the life of a gopher tortoise.

  • Sunset Safari
    Friday, October 16, 6:30 pm

    Ages 9 and older, $3 per person, Reservations Required
    When the sun goes down, some animals in our Pine Forest are just starting to wake up. Come on our evening hike to find out which animals stay up all night long!

  • Reptile Mania
    Saturday, October 24, 1:00 pm
    All Ages, $3 per person, Reservations Required
    You have met Okeeheelee’s native reptiles but have you met our exotic reptiles? Exotic reptiles play a large role in our local ecosystems but are mostly misunderstood. Join us to learn about these reptiles and meet them up close!

NOVEMBER

  • Butterfly Walk
    Saturday, November 14, 10:00 am
    All Ages, $3 per person, Reservations Required
    Flutter on in and join our butterfly enthusiast on a walk that you are sure to enjoy! You will learn about various butterfly species and plants, and how you can create this “butterfly” environment in your own backyard.

  • Discover Okeeheelee’s Natives
    Saturday, November 21, 11:00 am

    All Ages, $3 per person, Reservations Required
    Are you a Florida native? Meet our resident wildlife up close and personal. Discover how these natives play an important role in the environment.

DECEMBER

  • Night Hike
    Friday, December 4, 6:30 pm

    , $3 per person, Reservations Required

Okeeheelee Nature Center will be closed on the following dates:

  • November 11 for Veterans Day
  • November 26-27 for Thanksgiving Holiday
  • December 24-25 for Christmas Holiday

Okeeheelee Nature Center is operated by the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department and is located in Okeeheelee Park at 7715 Forest Hill Boulevard in West Palm Beach.
