This section provides a variety of recreational activities for people of all ages with disabilities. The Club Managers Association of America The Club Managers Association of America Therapeutic Recreation Complex, with The Gleneagles Country Club Aquatic Center, The Fountains Recreation Center, and The Murray, Meyer and Rachelle Grodetsky Family Foundation Athletic Center, incorporates a state-of-the-art accessibility design with sophisticated adapted equipment. People of all ages and abilities are able to train and compete in sports, participate in rehabilitation and fitness programs, and experience a wide variety of visual and performing arts programs. In addition, marketable talents can be developed for future employment and independence. Special Olympics provides a variety of sports training opportunities and competitions during the year for over 1,000 athletes with developmental disabilities throughout Palm Beach County. Coaching opportunities are available throughout the county, as well as training courses for those interested in becoming a Certified Special Olympics Coach. VSA arts of Florida - Palm Beach County Many visual and performing art opportunities are available including classes and events such as West Fest and a Holiday Showcase. Participation in General Recreation Classes-Individuals with disabilities are also encouraged to participate in general recreation classes offered through the Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department. If a reasonable accommodation is necessary to participate, the request can be made to program staff or through the Therapeutic Recreation Section. |
