Grant Management.
The Administration Section is responsible for the Division of Emergency Management (DEM)’s coordination and management of various grants and trust funds such as Emergency Medical Services (EMS); 9-1-1 Management; Urban Area Strategic Initiatives (UASI); Emergency Management Preparedness and Assistance (EMPA); State Homeland Security Grant Program (SHSGP); Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) Title III; Citizen Corps Program (CCP), and Citizens Emergency Response Team (CERT). These various grants and trust funds support some of the programs and initiatives of DEM, partner agencies and municipalities which enhance mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery from emergencies and disasters in Palm beach County.
2010 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) grant
Overview: The Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) program is intended to enhance the preparedness and response capabilities of high risk urban areas. Guidance provided by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) directs Urban Area Working Groups (UAWG) to allocate funding and guide the delivery of direct services in support of goals and objectives identified in their Urban Area Homeland Security Strategy. The UASI grant is a reimbursement funding grant provided by the DHS through the State of Florida and to Region 7 which includes Palm Beach County.
Grant application process: DEM invites its partner agencies and municipalities to submit to DEM projects by end of business of September 22, 2009 (9/22/09) for consideration.
