Jupiter Ridge Natural Area -
1800 South U.S. Highway 1, Jupiter. A 271-acre site with one of the best remaining examples of Florida scrub in Palm Beach County. This site also contains depression marsh, tidal swamp, and several flatwoods communities. Juno Dunes Natural Area -14200 U.S. Highway 1, Juno Beach. This 576-acre site contains Florida scrub, beach/dunes, coastal strand, a maritime hammock and freshwater wetland communities. It extends across the primary coastal ridge from the Atlantic Ocean to the Intracoastal Waterway. The oceanfront parcel is adjacent to Loggerhead Park, which contains active recreational facilities and the Marinelife Center of Juno Beach.The entrance to the west tract is located on the west side of U.S. Highway #1, 1/2 mile north of Donald Ross Road. Frenchman's Forest Natural Area -12201 Prosperity Farms Road, Palm Beach Gardens. This 158-acre site contains large areas of pine flatwoods, strand swamp, scrubby flatwoods, hydric hammock, tidal swamp and wet flatwoods communities. Public use facilities include a parking area, an accessible nature trail with an observation platform, a boardwalk, informational kiosk and hiking trails. Sweetbay Natural Area -12560 Aviation Boulevard, Palm Beach Gardens. This 1,094-acre site is a mosaic of wetlands, pine flatwoods and oak hammocks. The wetlands attract many wading birds. Other animals observed include red-shouldered hawks, bobcats, eastern lubber grasshoppers, and Florida box turtles. The entrance is located inside the North County Airport off the Bee Line Highway, one mile north of PGA Boulevard. Public use facilities include a parking area, a bicycle rack, an accessible nature trail with boardwalk and observation platform, and an informational kiosk. |
